PHILIP MACDOUGALL
Writer and Historian
My first interest is local history and I have written about both North Kent and Chichester, the two places where I have spent much of my life. In a lighter vein I have also written several books that attempt to unravel a number of unsolved mysteries. Finally, and over a long period of time, I have developed a specialist interest in naval dockyards.
I am available for talks and lectures, with a number of available titles. I particularly welcome invites from both local history and naval history societies.
Please email for further details about the talks I give or of books I have available for purchase and which currently include:
The Story of the Hoo Peninsula (1979) The Isle of Grain Defences (1979)
The Book of Medway: Rochester, Chatham and Strood (1989)
Wish You Were Here... Rochester (1997)
Chatham Past (1999)
The Story of Chichester (2004)
Settlers, Visitors and Asylum Seekers (2007)
